Nuestra Familia

Joel was born in la Republica Dominicana....that's Dominican Republic (in case you were confused by my spanglish).

I was born in good ole' Florida! Home of the Greatest People that ever lived ;0)

Joel gave his life to the Lord in February 2005, and I in 2006. We attended the same church but never really talked. On May 24th of 2008, we officially "met". We spoke of our hearts desires and what we wanted to accomplish in life, and our heart for the children. That same week we spoke to one another and he told me that he wanted to pursue me, I was sold! He rambled on and on, and said, "..when I give my heart, I give it whole. It has been broken so many times before, but I want to give it to you....." I affirmed to court him and that wanted his whole heart. Officially after that day, we began courting.

Later that year, in November, we married. Two months after being married we found out we were pregnant. Come to find out at our five month sonogram we were blessed with a son! We went over names and decided to name him Joel Jr., we wanted to honor the father (my hubbers lol) by naming him after him, and named him after the prophet Joel (from the biblia).
Joel was born on Sept. 14th, 2009.

When Joel was nine months (in June of 2010) we decided to leave everything we had ever known, and all we were used to, to work on our leniency on the Lord. Abandoning everything, we came to Kansas City, MO. To be apart of the International House of Prayer.
Well, lets just say, we are getting what we asked for...God is shaking our foundation!
He is so sovereign, so good.

Two months after moving to Kansas City, we found out we were pregnant again! It was one of those, surprised but shouldn't be kind of thing, if you know what I mean. ;)

This time we were having a baby girl! The same day we found out we were having a baby girl was when our marriage began the journey it is taking now. So much of our hearts came out after that day.
On April 9th, 2011 our beautiful baby girl was born, and we named her Amae Akira Salvador.

Amae: Beloved (greek)
Akira: Anchor, Intelligent  (greek, japanese)

When I chose her name, it was a very important thing to me. As a female, I know the insecurities we deal with, the daily struggles we face. and I wanted my daughter to know that she is, PRIMARILY, God's beloved and our beloved. That everyday when she heard he name said, it would remind her of who she is: God's beloved.
Akira was chosen because I knew she is an anchor. Spiritually, she would stand firm in the Lord, that she would not waiver from side to side.
" Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means 'rock'), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of Hell will not conquer it" (Matthew 16:18)

After Amae was born something shifted. The Lord's hand was over us.

Amae is now two months old, and growing too fast. Joel Jr. in September will be two years old!!!!! I cannot get over that!

I hope you enjoyed reading about nuestra familia, our family.
